The Debate of Question One

Written, produced, and edited by Tahisha Charles and Eileen O’Grady for the Northeastern University graduate course, Fundamentals of Digital Journalism.

Tahisha Charles and Eileen O’Grady went to the Longwood medical area where they approached healthcare workers to ask them questions about question one on the ballot of the upcoming mid-term elections. Question one is asking individuals to vote on whether or not nurses should have a set and stone number of patients per shift. However, there are many conflicts surrounding this issue. Some believe that having a set of patient per shift will hinder patient-centered care. If an extra patient comes on the floor, will they get turned away? How long will they have to wait? Meanwhile, those agreeing with the question believe that voting ‘yes,’ will cause patients to get extra attention thus increasing their quality of life. What do you think?
